Former Leeds player Tony Dorigo has been speaking very highly of a reported target for Marcelo Bielsa – Ruslan Malinovskyi.

The Telegraph revealed that the Ukraine international is a target for the Yorkshire-based outfit, having hit a wall in negotiations with Udinese for Rodrigo De Paul.

Dorigo – who now works as a commentator – replied to a tweet showcasing a thunderous hit from Malinovskyi, which was posted by ‘Leeds All Over’.

He wrote: ‘Always find it strange when I hear my own voice over a clip…..however, Malinovskyi must have a cannon in his left boot, no???’

Dorigo then added: ‘We’re getting linked with many players for lots of different reasons….but would be very happily surprised if Malinovskyi turned up at Elland Road.

‘If it’s Malinovskyi or De Paul, we’ll get one heck of player.’

Judging by the attached clip, it’s hard to argue that the Atalanta man doesn’t have a cannot in his left boot, as Dorigo states.

In addition to the masterful strike above, Malinovskyi netted one goal in last season’s Champions League as the Italian outfit reached the quarter-final.

The 27-year-old grabbed nine goals and set up a further seven in all competitions last season, and he definitely looks like an exciting target for Bielsa’s side.

Interestingly, while Malinovskyi is being viewed as an alternative to De Paul, he actually outscored the Argentine in last season’s Serie A.

The Ukrainian got eight goals, whereas the Udinese star netted seven.

Having already scored seven goals in two Premier League games – with three coming against the champions – it’s hardly as if Leeds need more firepower.

However, they will be an extremely exciting side to watch – even more so than they are now – if they manage to bring one of these talents to Elland Road.
