Everton will need to make an ‘extraordinary offer’ if they are serious about signing Real Betis right-back Emerson Royal in the final two weeks of the transfer window, sporting director Antonio Cordon has told Estadio Deportivo.

While much of the praise has been piled on James Rodriguez, Allan and hat-trick hero Dominic Calvert-Lewin so far in 2020/21, a special mention must go to the men raiding down the right-hand side.

Seamus Coleman produced a defiant defensive performance in the 1-0 win at Tottenham, before rolling back the years with a swashbuckling display of attacking intent during the 5-2 thrashing of West Brom on Saturday.

Jonjoe Kenny, meanwhile, was publicly praised by Carlo Ancelotti after his eye-catching display in the Carabao Cup victory against Salford City in midweek.

Despite this, Everton are still in the market for reinforcements on the right.

Atletico Madrid confirmed yesterday that they are in talks with the Toffees over a deal for Santiago Arias while another La Liga flyer, Emerson, was the subject on an £18 million bid earlier in September (Mundo Deportivo).

“Emerson is currently a Betis player. We do not consider (selling him) at all,” says Cordon.

The sporting director does admit that Betis could change their mind, but only if one of Emerson’s suitors make an ‘extraordinary offer’ for a man who joined the Verdiblancos from Barcelona.

Sport claimed back in April that West Ham United and Tottenham were also interested.

With both clubs still in need of a new right-sided defender, don’t be surprised if the Hammers or Spurs try to twist Betis’s arm before the October deadline.
