Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly have to pay £10 million if they want to sign Christian Benteke from Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window.
The Guardian reported last week that former Aston Villa and Liverpool striker Benteke has been offered to Tottenham.
Spurs are reportedly on the hunt for a new striker, as head coach Jose Mourinho wants to bring in a player who can compete with and support Harry Kane.
The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 56, September 20, 2020) has claimed that Palace are looking for £10 million as transfer fee to sell the 29-year-old Belgium international striker.
Tottenham Hotspur should not be tempted
A transfer fee of £10 million for a striker who has played in the Premier League for years is not really a lot of money, but Tottenham should not be tempted into signing Benteke.
While the Belgian was brilliant during his time at Villa, since his exit from Villa Park, he has not really been at the top of his game.
After struggling to make a huge impact at Liverpool, the 29-year-old moved to Palace, and bar a strong debut season for the Eagles, he has not done much of note for the London club.
According to WhoScored, the striker scored two goals in the Premier League last season, while in 2018-19, he found the net once in the league, and in 2017-18, he bagged three goals.
