It’s not an easy time to be a West Ham fan. The Irons were arguably lucky to survive last season, their transfer window has been pretty uneventful and they have lost their first two games in the Premier League.
Grady Diangana’s sale to West Bromwich Albion also angered many at the London Stadium, including club captain Mark Noble. West Ham need to bring some positivity back to the club and what better way than by completing a major signing.
It is no secret Burnley’s James Tarkowski is David Moyes’ priority target this summer. West Ham have had multiple bids rejected for the Englishman but still seem confident of sealing the deal (Sky Sports).
Defence isn’t the only area West Ham need help in. Sebastien Haller’s disappointing debut campaign has put a lot of pressure on Michail Antonio’s shoulders. The Englishman has delivered but strengthening the attack would help him.
TeamTalk revealed last week that West Ham were leading the race for Fluminese’s Marcos Paulo. The Irons had held talks with the striker’s representatives and Moyes was set to beat his counterparts at Arsenal, Southampton and Leeds to his signature.
However, it now looks as though West Ham have missed out. Foot Mercato claims Marseille are close to signing Paulo. Foot Mercato said the teenager, who has a £40 million release clause, will arrive on Wednesday with a deal wrapped up soon.

That would be another dent to West Ham’s hopes in this transfer window. Paulo may not have made a big difference to Moyes’ squad but his acquisition would have brought some excitement to fans.
Antonio still looks good but Moyes has to find a way to integrate Haller into his system. The Frenchman is capable of being a huge player for West Ham if he’s given the support he needs.
Moyes needs to lift the mood around the club. New players would certainly help but, if he can’t get some wins under his belt, the Hammers might struggle throughout the campaign, as they did last season.
