Everton will stop Yerry Mina leaving the Premier League for Valencia although Sandro Ramirez is one step closer to finally escaping his Goodison Park nightmare, according to The Sun (20 September, page 57).

Considering Carlo Ancelotti has expressed a public desire to add a centre-back to his squad before the transfer window closes, it’s safe to assume the Toffees boss will do everything he can to keep Mina on Merseyside.

Ancelotti is already concerned about a lack of depth in defence and, following injuries to Mason Holgate and Jarrad Branthwaite, the £28 million Colombian has suddenly become a vital piece of the Everton jigsaw.

Crisis-hit Valencia were interested.

Then again, the chances of Mina joining a side so cash strapped it has been forced to sell a host of first-team players, including Ferran Torres, Dani Parejo and Rodrigo Moreno, looked slim anyway.

The former Barcelona youngster has started both Everton’s Premier League games so far and impressed in the 1-0 win at Tottenham.

However, The Sun adds another ex-La Liga starlet, Sandro Ramirez, could see the final year of his £100,000-a-week contract paid off as the Toffees look to get a big-earning player off their crippling wage bill.

A 2017 signing from Malaga, Sandro has made just eight goalless appearances in the Premier League but showed signs of getting back to his best during a loan spell at Real Valladolid last season.

“Sandro has a current contract with Everton. If he is comfortable here and wants to continue, then we can look into the operation,” says Valladolid’s sporting director Miguel Angel Gomez, as translated by Pucella Fichajes.
