Dominic Matteo has praised Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford on Twitter.

The former Leeds star believes that Bamford deserves a lot of credit for the way he is playing this season.

Matteo made the comments on Twitter following Leeds’s 4-3 win against Fulham at Elland Road in the Premier League on Saturday.

Bamford scored one goal, provided the assist for Helder Costa’s second, and was a problem for the Fulham defence throughout the time he was on the pitch.

The Englishman has now scored two goals and provided one assist in two Premier League matches for Leeds this season, while he scored 16 goals and provided two assists in the Championship during the 2019-20 campaign, according to WhoScored.

BT Sport pundits Darren Bent and Chris Sutton have also praised the 27-year-old former Chelsea and Nottingham Forest striker.

Bent said on BT Sports (5:09pm, September 19, 2020): “He is a very, very good finisher. That was on his weaker foot as well. He has started the season on fire.”

Sutton said on BT Sports (5:09pm, September 19, 2020) about Bamford’s assist for Costa: “I have never seen Patrick Bamford dribble past anybody in his career.”

Important player for Leeds United

Bamford has been criticised from time to time for taking too many chances to score, but the striker has improved under head coach Bielsa.

The Englishman is a very important player for Leeds and is vital to the way the Whites play, and the Elland Road faithful can expect him to score a lot of goals this season.
