Former Manchester City forward Stephen Elliott has predicted on Twitter that Liverpool will win the Premier League title this season.

Elliott made the comment while watching Liverpool in action against Chelsea away from home at Stamford Bridge in London in the league on Sunday.

The defending Premier League champions got the better of their 10-man hosts 2-0, thanks to a double from Sadio Mane.

Elliott, who started his professional club football career at City before moving on to play for Sunderland, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Coventry City among other clubs, has backed the Reds to win the league title again this season.

Good start to the season

Liverpool were head and shoulders above the rest of the teams in the Premier League last season, but Manchester United, City and Chelsea all will be looking to provide the Reds with stronger competition this time around.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have made a strong start to the season, getting the better of Leeds United 4-3 at Anfield before winning 2-0 against Chelsea in London.

Manchester City challenge

City will be especially keen on winning the title race, as Pep Guardiola’s side won the Premier League two years in a row before Liverpool clinched the championship last season.

The Citizens have a very strong squad, and they have also signed Ferran Torres and Nathan Ake in the summer transfer window.
