According to Diario Sport, reported West Ham United Moussa Wague is on the verge of a loan move to Greek side PAOK after being told to find a new club this season.
The Senegal international has long been linked with a move to West Ham.
Diario Sport claimed back in January how the Hammers were keen on a loan deal for him.
Fellow Spanish editorial Mundo Deportivo went one further, saying West Ham held talks with Wague in July over a potential £14 million deal.
But now, it seems like West Ham are set to miss out on the speedy fullback as fresh reports from Diario Sport say a surprise loan move to PAOK is close to competition.
New Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has laid down his plans for the season. Several youngsters including Riqui Puig and Wague have been told to go out on loan.
West Ham suffered last season and the right-back area was a real concern.
Pablo Zabaleta has since left the club, while the inconsistent Ryan Fredericks has started the opening two games of the season, both ending in defeat.
Wague, 22, would have represented a fine option. The Barca fullback is quick, comfortable in possession and likes to get forward to support the attack.
Nelson Semedo and Sergi Roberto are Barcelona’s first two choices at right-back.
Wague leaving on a loan deal isn’t exactly surprising. But West Ham’s apparent decision to not pursue a deal is as it leaves manager David Moyes light on options.
