Peter Crouch and Rafael van der Vaart have had their say on Twitter following Gareth Bale’s return to Tottenham on Saturday evening.

Both players played with Bale when he was ripping it up in the Premier League before his move to Real Madrid, as he has now made a surprise return to North London seven years later.

Crouch hilariously wrote on Twitter ‘A Spurs legend interviews Gareth Bale tomorrow on BT Sport’ as he is pictured with the Welshman in the club’s new kit.

On the other hand, Van der Vaart welcomed back the four-time European Cup winner to the club by simply stating that he ‘can’t wait to see this amazing player back in action’.

Over a week ago, not many would have expected Spurs to be in such a situation where Bale was on their doorstep and ready to lift them from their gloom.

But those in the Tottenham boardroom, including a certain Daniel Levy, have managed to pull off a deal and added a much-needed boost and spice to their currently damp start to the season.

From Bale’s performances against Inter in Europe to the Madrid legend ripping it up in the North London derby, Spurs fans will be hoping he can replicate those past performances.

They won’t see much of him yet because he is returning from injury. He needs to get match fit because he’s spent more time on the Golf course in Spain rather than being picked to play on the football pitch by Zidane.
