Fall Guys has become one of the most popular battle royale multiplayer games since its inclusion in the August PS Plus games and its release on Steam. However, while the game is a lot of fun, it has admittedly been marred by lots of cheaters. And, following recent news, people have been asking whether a place referred to as Cheater Island is real. Here you’ll discover what Cheater Island was and why it has been shut down.
Season 2 of Fall Guys was recently given a sneak peek at Gamescom and we know that there will be a medieval theme. This means medieval skins and new maps based on the time period, and all of the new outfits look cute, and the maps appear to be enjoyable while also likely to cause massive frustration amongst the most competitive.
However, while Season 2 is a couple of weeks away, below you’ll discover the tale of Cheater Island and why it was shut down.
Is Cheater Island real in Fall Guys?
Yes, Cheater Island was real in Fall Guys.
According to the game’s official Twitter page, Cheater Island was a real anti-cheat feature in Fall Guys that resulted in nefarious players being pitted against each other.
There were issues with the feature that resulted in apparent bugs such as the game forever loading with players “forever falling”.
But, according to Mediatonic, this was because there weren’t enough cheaters to make up a 40+ player session.
Nefarious players with ill intent reportedly discovered workarounds for the game being “broken” such as joining sessions with mates who hadn’t committed any in-game crimes.
Family-sharing was also another bypass exploited by guilty players, so Mediatonic routinely kept increasing the thresholds on their cheat detection.
However, Mediatonic eventually started seeing videos of what could have been Cheater Island in action. But the issue is that they can’t be 100% sure.
Why Cheater Island has been shut down in Fall Guys
Cheater Island has been shut down in Fall Guys because Mediatonic are now opting for the anti-cheat software used by Epic Games with Fortnite.
Rather than going to Cheater Island, guilty players can simply no longer log into their Fall Guys’ account.
The developers have also said that they will be continuing to increase the threshold on their detection as well.
This is good news for those who don’t want their experience to be marred by others who only care about winning without any of the actual fun.
