A rumour is spreading around the internet that YNW Melly has been given the death penalty.
Back in April 2020 the 21-year-old rapper from Florida was denied release from prison after he contracted Covid-19, and that’s the most recent news we have about the rapper.
However, in a recent flurry of rumours on Twitter, many people on social media are now speculating that the rapper has been sentenced to the death.
YNW Melly was charged with murder in 2019
US Rapper YNW Melly, whose real name is James Demons, was arrested and charged with double murder in 2019.
Allegations say that Demons murdered two rappers, Christopher Thomas Jr and Anthony Williams, on October 26th. Police say that YNW Melly shot both men but made it look like they died in a drive-by shooting and were killed by someone else.
The rapper has been ordered to remain in jail without bail.
Rumours circle the internet that YMW Melly has been given the death penalty
In late September 2020, a rumour started circling the internet that the rapper had been sentenced to death.
One Twitter user asked: “Is it true that YNW Melly got the death sentence?”
If convicted of double murder, it was always clear that YNW Melly would either be sentenced to life-imprisonment or the death penalty – and social media users think it is the latter.
Did YNW Melly get the death penalty?
- No. The latest public knowledge is that YNW Melly has still not yet been convicted of double murder, meaning that the death penalty rumours are not true.
According to court documents obtained by The FADER in April 2020, the State of Florida is seeking the death penalty against Mr. Demons.
Assistant State Attorney Kristine Bradley, who filed against the rapper, claimed there are many “aggravating factors” that makes this crime worthy of capital punishment.
Despite this, there is no evidence that YNW Melly has received a death sentence, or that he has been convicted of double murder, and the rumours are all just speculation.
