Ross McCormack’s spell at Aston Villa was ill-fated, and he was only formally released by the club this summer.
The Scottish striker was on Villa’s 2020 released list, as per the Birmingham Mail.
His new club has raised a few eyebrows, as he has agreed to sign for Aldershot in the National League.
McCormack is not the only player with Villa connections at the Shots. Villa academy graduates Kodi Lyons-Foster and Lewis Kinsella are also there.
Some Villa fans on Twitter wished McCormack well, despite his time at the club not going as planned.
In January 2017, the Independent reported McCormack had angered Steve Bruce by failing to turn up to training and blaming his electric gates.
That didn’t go down too well with the fans either, but it wasn’t a totally negative reaction on social media to the news that McCormack had dropped down the divisions.
