Given the rivalry that exists between Rangers and Celtic, one club would never willingly help the other sign a player.
But Celtic could just benefit if their Old Firm rivals sell a certain Jordan Jones to somebody in particular this summer.
According to The Scottish Sun, QPR are interested in signing the Rangers winger, who has been told that he can leave Glasgow.
And interestingly, if the Championship side snag Jones then maybe, just maybe, it might help Celtic’s pursuit of Bright Osayi-Samuel.
The 22-year-old has been linked with a move to Parkhead in recent weeks and, with his contract up next summer, the English club must sell now or lose him on a Bosman in around nine months.
But if they bring Jones down Ibrox then it could, in theory, pave the way for Neil Lennon to complete a move for Osayi-Samuel.
Jones and Osayi-Samuel are both wingers who can play on the right or left-hand side of attack, so it’s certainly plausible that the Rangers man is being looked upon as a replacement for the reported Bhoys target.
Osayi-Samuel is rated at £5 million [Lancs Live] but it goes without saying that the Londoners will find it difficult to pick up that amount for him, at this stage of the game.
Nothing in the transfer window is an exact science – especially not in the final weeks of it – but if both reports are accurate then Jones’s future could have big implications for Osayi-Samuel’s.
