Leicester City manger Brendan Rodgers says he is hopeful of concluding a deal for Roma’s Cengiz Under despite recent reports of a good Everton offer, BBC report.

Cengiz, 23, joined Roma in 2017 and has made 88 appearances for the Serie A club.

His spell in the Italian capital, however, is seemingly coming to an end.

Gianlucadimarzio claims the Foxes will sign him on an initial loan with a mandatory clause to make it permanent in the summer of 2021, for a total of £27 million.

Leicester have seemingly won the race, despite reported Everton interest.

The Corriere dello Sport claimed this week that the Toffees presented a good offer for him.

Rodgers, meanwhile, has told the BBC he is hopeful of bringing him in.

“He’s a very, very good player. There have been negotiations with the club [Roma] and we’re hopeful there. We need a different kind of attacking player to help out at the top end of the pitch. It’s clear we have pace and power, but I feel we need more football in there,” the former Celtic boss explained.

After just missing out on a Champions League spot last term, the Foxes will be hoping to go one better this time around despite strong competition from their rivals.

At the back end of last season, the Foxes struggled a bit for creativity, and they will be hoping Under can provide them with a greater spark in wider areas.

The Roma ace has bags of talent on the ball, and he may look at how former Roma man Mo Salah has shone at Liverpool for inspiration to perform in the Premier League.
