Arsenal fans are confused over why they are still reportedly trying to sign David Raya from Brentford.

The Telegraph claim that Arsenal could still bring in Raya, even though Rúnar Alex Rúnarsson is set to arrive in the near future.

The Gunners have apparently made a £10 million bid for the Championship goalkeeper in recent days, as Arteta still pushes to get a deal done.

But with funds limited, Arsenal supporters cannot understand why they would invest a large sum of money into a goalkeeper, when they already appear to be well stocked in the position.

Arsenal supporters’ confusion over the transfer is somewhat understandable, given there seem to be other priorities for the North London club.

Arsenal appear to want at least one midfielder signed, and given their budgetary restrictions, paying £10 million for a back-up goalkeeper does seem a slightly lavish purchase.

Raya is an excellent goalkeeper though, and Arteta may simply want the security of having a talented deputy, in case Bernd Leno picks up an injury, just like he did last season.
