Everton fans think that Marcel Brands deserves huge praise for signing Niels Nkounkou this summer.

Nkounkou joined Everton back in July, and the left-back has quickly gone on to make an impression on the training ground.

There were very encouraging noises coming out of Goodison Park about Nkounkou’s potential, and Everton supporters got to see how talented the full-back was last night.

The 19-year-old was a constant menace as Everton beat Salford City 3-0 in the League Cup.

Nkounkou showed great attacking intent throughout, while remaining solid defensively.

And Everton fans think that Brands has pulled off a real bargain by bringing him to the club.

Nkounkou’s main problem at Everton is that Lucas Digne is ahead of him in the pecking order.

Digne is one of the most talented left-backs in the Premier League, and breaking into Everton’s first-team ahead of him will be tough.

However, if Nkounkou can continue putting in performances of the quality he showed last night then he will certainly push the more experienced Digne hard for his place.
