Fabrizio Romano says that Houssem Aouar wants to join Arsenal after many discussions have been held with his agents.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with Aouar recently, with L’Equipe the first to update on their interest last month.
It was claimed that Arsenal had a bid rejected by Lyon for the midfielder, but they have still not given up their chase.
Indeed, the Daily Mirror suggested yesterday that Aouar, who is valued at around £40 million, is very much in Mikel Arteta’s side’s sights.
Arteta apparently wants to add two midfielders at Arsenal this summer, with Aouar one of their top choices.
The news that he wants a switch to the Emirates Stadium should make any deal even more likely and will surely be music to the ears of Gunners fans.
Aouar may have played in the Champions League with Lyon last term, but he still seems to feel that a move to Arsenal could be good for him.
That highlights the pulling power of the Gunners, and if Aouar does arrive, their chances of breaking back into the top four would be greatly enhanced.
Aouar is one of the outstanding midfield talents across Europe, and he would surely walk straight into Arsenal’s starting line-up if he was to arrive.
