Peter Crouch has hit back at Gabriel Agbonlahor’s comments on TalkSPORT, which criticised Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk.

Van Dijk didn’t put in his best showing for Liverpool at the weekend, as they narrowly beat Leeds United 4-3.

The Dutchman was not his usual reliable self, and his mistake allowed Patrick Bamford to score in the first-half.

Van Dijk was labelled as ‘arrogant’ by Agbonlahor and accused of letting his standards drop, with the full comments available to read here.

But Crouch was less than impressed by the tweet from TalkSPORT’s account, and hit back this morning at the criticism of the Liverpool centre-back.

Van Dijk has indeed been very reliable for Liverpool, and there is nothing to suggest that his error against Leeds was anything more than a one-off.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will need Van Dijk to be back to his best at the weekend though, as they take on Chelsea on Sunday.
