Some Charlton fans have taken to Twitter to swoon over Josh Cullen, following their 3-0 defeat to West Ham in the Carabao Cup.
The south Londoners – managed by ex-Hammer Lee Bowyer – suffered a disappointing defeat thanks to two goals from Sebastien Haller and one from Felipe Anderson.
West Ham were ruthless on the night and their quality shone through.
The 24-year-old – who spent the 2018/19 and 2019/20 campaigns on loan at Charlton – delivered a composed display alongside Robert Snodgrass.
The Republic of Ireland international completed 90% of his passes, and also pulled off five of his attempted seven long-range passes.
Cullen got stuck in with three successful tackles to his name – no player on the pitch completed more.
It seems like the Charlton fans could just be getting slightly romantic about their ex-loanee, although there is no denying that the midfielder is a very fine footballer.
He has only ever made ten first-team appearances for the Hammers.
However, with the club trying to offload Jack Wilshere according to The Times, there could potentially be more first-team opportunities for Cullen.
Let’s see what some of the Charlton fans on Twitter have been saying…

Josh Cullen easily man of the match last night. Charlton were the better side for about 40 minutes. Impressed with Levitt’s passing, Williams looked good too. Lacking in the final third but we won’t be facing that sort of quality in the league. Positive display I reckon #CAFC— Jamie (@JamieBoxallYT) September 16, 2020
