Where was Misfits filmed? The beloved TV series has recently arrived on Netflix and audiences are making quick work of its five seasons.

Over the course of the 2010s, cinema was defined by superheroes.

Comic book movies dominated the box office and the MCU continued to build a world like no other, blowing everybody away with the likes of Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and Black Panther.

Casting our minds back to where it all started, Jon Favreau’s 2008 film Iron Man feels like it made its impression a lifetime ago.

Why are we talking about Iron Man?

Well, a year after its release, the seeds of the superhero craze arguably gave us one of the most exciting shows in ages: Misfits.

Created by Howard Overman, this sci-fi comedy-drama translated the comic-book inspired thrills of blockbuster cinema to the small screen with a very different take on superheroes.

Rather than billionaire crusaders or spider-bitten vigilantes, Misfits threw us into the mix of young offenders on community service, given powers after a mysterious electrical storm.

Now, Netflix has invited us back to enjoy it all over again!

Netflix: Where was Misfits filmed?

  • Misfits was filmed in South East London, United Kingdom. Much of the series was shot in Thamesmead South.

The area of South East London is largely made up of social housing and that may come as no surprise considering the series’ iconic shot of the four multi-storey buildings.

As highlighted by Global Film Locations, these scenes were filmed at Southmere Lakeside Complex, Thameshead South.

The same source also includes Google Maps coordinates, if you fancy taking a thorough roam of the area: 51.501422, 0.124015.

IMDb notes that this is also where the exterior of the community centre was shot.

Bexley College in the London borough of Bexley was also a location, according to News Shopper. On the other hand, many interiors seen in the show were constructed sets.

Netflix fans are over the moon!

While Misfits’s addition to Netflix will surely introduce it to a new generation of audiences, there are plenty of people who are returning to it.

For many, the show harbours a great deal of nostalgia and taking a trip down memory lane with Nathan, Kurty, Kelly and co is a no-brainer.

Some have already flocked to Twitter to express their excitement.
