Des arrived on ITV on September 14th and tells the grisly tale of Dennis Nilsen but just what happened to the serial killer’s dog?

Thanks to the delays caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, we’ve been starved of new drama on ITV as the channel has mostly shown repeats since April.

Now though, as September is in full swing, ITV are bringing one of the most engrossing and vile dramas of the year to our screens in Des.

Des tells the story of the serial killer, Dennies Nilsen, and the police investigation into the multiple murders he committed.

Episode 1 of Des arrived on September 14th and viewers were left with a surprising question about Dennis Nilsen.

Dennis Nilsen’s dog

In the opening episode of Des, as Nilsen leads the police officers up to his flat, we can see that the serial killer was the owner of a dog.

This dog was a Border Collie cross named Bleep.

After Nilsen’s arrest, Bleep is shown to be kept at the same police station as her owner and can be heard barking away but just what happened to the dog in real life?

What happened to Bleep the dog?

In episode 1, Bleep’s fate is not revealed but according to the Murder Mile podcast, Dennis Nilsen’s dog was given a lethal injection and put down three days after Nilsen’s arrest.

Nilsen was reportedly a loving owner to Bleep but after he was arrested, the police could not take care of her and she was put down.

Des continues on ITV on September 15th and concludes on September 16th while the opening episode is available to stream now on ITV Hub.
