West Ham United are looking at signing Chelsea’s Emerson Palmeri as David Moyes looks to improve his side’s defence, TalkSPORT say.
Emerson looks set to leave Chelsea after falling out of favour with Frank Lampard, and West Ham apparently feel that he could help to solve their defensive issues.
Aaron Cresswell has failed to convince in recent seasons at West Ham, while Arthur Masuaku isn’t the most solid defensively.
Emerson’s main strengths also lie in his attacking qualities, but the Brazilian could be an improvement on either of Moyes’ current options.
Emerson was once highly regarded at Chelsea and labelled as ‘fantastic’ by Frank Lampard in the Metro last year, but the £17 million (BBC Sport) has now slipped behind both Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso in the pecking order.
If he was to move to West Ham he could walk straight into Moyes’ starting line-up, as the Scot is clearly not entirely satisfied with his current defensive options.
West Ham have also been linked with James Tarkowski, and the Daily Mail say that he wants at least three new recruits at the back.
