According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United have transfer listed winger Christian Atsu amid interest from Celtic.

Steve Bruce has confirmed the decision, stating that Atsu needs to move on to progress his career elsewhere.

The 28-year-old managed just six league starts for Newcastle last season, and hasn’t played since January.

It’s clear that the Ghanaian isn’t wanted at Newcastle, and he now has a few weeks to try and sort out a move elsewhere.

One possible destination could be Celtic, as Sports World Ghana reported earlier this month that Bhoys officials have made contact about a deal.

That wouldn’t be a huge surprise; Celtic made a move to sign Atsu in January, but he turned them down according to Sky Sports.

Atsu struggled for playing time after that, and he may now be more interested in a move to Celtic if they can offer him first-team opportunities.

The speedy wide man has failed to really live up to early promise, but he could cause real damage in Scotland – and the door appears to be open for Celtic to make a new move.
