Graham Roberts has stated on Twitter that he does not think that Gareth Bale will return to Tottenham Hotspur from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
The former Tottenham defender has said that he would love Bale to rejoin Spurs, but he cannot see the reported transfer happening.
Roberts has said that Hakim Ziyech of Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes would have been good signings for Tottenham.
Ziyech, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, officially joined Chelsea from Ajax in the summer transfer window, while midfielder Fernandes moved to United from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020.
According to ESPN, Tottenham are interested in signing Bale from Madrid, with the North London outfit having sold the 31-year-old Wales international winger to the Spanish and European giants in 2013.
Could Gareth Bale return to Tottenham Hotspur?
According to ESPN, Tottenham are leading United in the race for Bale, with Madrid willing to sell the the Welshman for £18 million, and are also ready to send him out on loan and subsidise his £600,000-a-week salary.
It seems that Madrid want to get Bale off their books, and if Spurs are willing to pay part of his salary, then a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could potentially happen.
Meanwhile, The Daily Mail has reported that Tottenham are ready to send young goalkeeper Alfie Whiteman out on loan this summer.
