According to the Watford Observer, Watford are set to sell left back Pervis Estupinan to Villarreal.
It’s claimed that Unai Emery is closing in on a deal to bring Estupinan to Villarreal, with a deal worth around £15million in the pipeline.
The report notes that Brighton and Hove Albion want to sign Estupinan too, but he prefers a move back to Spain.
Estupinan has spend the last four years on loan in Spain, with Granada, Almeria, Mallorca and Osasuna before heading back to Watford.
The Ecuadorian signed for Watford from LDU Quito in 2016, but has yet to make a competitive debut for the Hornets.
Last month, The Mirror (16/08, p64) reported that Tottenham Hotspur were ready and waiting to pounce for Estupinan as he went for talks with Watford about his future.
Spurs have Ben Davies as their first-choice left back, but with Danny Rose on his way out, another left back may well have been on Jose Mourinho’s wish list.
Now, it seems that former Arsenal boss Emery will haunt Spurs by signing Estupinan, leaving Mourinho to look elsewhere if he does want a new left back.
