It has been reported that Rangers want to sign Johnson from Preston North End in the summer transfer window.
The report has claimed that there have been initial talks between Rangers and Preston in the Championship in England.
Rangers have not made an offer for the 27-year-old attacking midfielder yet, and it will cost over £5 million to secure the services of the former Aston Villa prospect, according to the report.
Johnson – described by Preston manager Alex Neil as a player who has “got a bit of everything” and “a bubbly character” on LancsLive in January 2020 – has established himself as an important player for the English club over the years.
According to WhoScored, the 27-year-old made 32 starts and one substitute appearance in the Championship for Preston last season, scoring 12 goals and providing seven assists in the process.
During the 2018-19 campaign, the attacking midfielder made 26 starts and nine substitute appearances in the league, scoring six goals and providing five assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
