Mourinho has said that the 23-year-old France international midfielder has been working hard in training.
The former Chelsea and Manchester United boss has also stated that Ndombele has “incredible potential”.
Mourinho told Football.London about Ndombele: “He’s working very hard. I have to be honest and say he is working better than ever. Of course he finished the season injured, with a very important injury. He came back after holidays and of course he was still injured, in spite of doing some work on the recovery process.
“He didn’t start the pre-season with us. When you saw him 45 minutes against Watford it was easy to understand and say he’s not in the best condition, but he trained only two days before that match. This week he did not go to the national team and trained every day. Is his condition better today than it was last week? Yes his condition is better and he is working very, very hard.
“So the point now is – can he keep that commitment and desire? If he does it, he has incredible potential.”
Big season for Tanguy Ndombele
Ndombele did not have a great time in his debut season in the Premier League in 2019-20.
The 23-year-old made 12 starts and nine substitute appearances in the league for Spurs last season, scoring two goals and providing two assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
The midfielder made four starts and two substitute appearances in the Champions League for the North London outfit in 2019-20, providing two assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
Tottenham will be aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season, and Ndombele will be determined to make an impact.
The 23-year-old will have to be on top of his game in order to play a big role in Spurs’ quest to clinch a Champions League place.
