Frederic Guilbert has stated on Instagram ‘I love this club’ after rumours emerged about his Aston Villa future in the press.

French outlet L’Equipe claims that Villa were demanding £5 million for Guilbert’s services, as he was seemingly closing in on a return to Nantes.

But the right-back has squashed those rumours on Instagram by making it clear that he’s ‘very happy’ at Villa Park.

To the perhaps surprise of some or even many, Villa signed Matty Cash last week despite Dean Smith already having two right-sided full-backs already at his disposal in Guilbert himself and Ahmed Elmohamady.

On paper, Villa have three senior right-backs on their books now, but previously, Elmohamady has played further forward, whilst Cash can play in the middle of the park and as a winger.

Plus, Smith did deploy a back three for a small period last season, so he could even have plans to play one of Guilbert or Elmohamady as a right-sided centre-back in that formation.

Either way, Guilbert has done nothing wrong to be moved on by the club and his message clearly states that he doesn’t want to go anywhere.

This will be some relief to the Villa Park faithful because there was fear and concern that the 2019 January signing was perhaps being made a scapegoat for their last-day Premier League survival.
