According to a report from Express and Star, West Bromwich Albion are interested in signing Watford’s Andre Gray this summer.

The Baggies recently completed the permanent signing of Grady Diangana from West Ham United. That has massively bolstered their attack but a new striker has to be West Brom’s number–one priority before the season starts this weekend.

West Brom currently have Charlie Austin, Kenneth Zohore and Hal Robson-Kanu up front. Austin and Robson-Kanu scored a combined 21 goals in all competitions last season, which isn’t a bad record, but they have struggled in the Premier League in the past.

Huddersfield Town’s Karlan Grant is West Brom’s priority target but he isn’t the only striker they want to bring in.

Gray has been at Watford for three seasons and has done a fairly decent job. The Englishman is by no means a prolific striker but is a team player who plays a big part in build-up play.

Gray has only scored 16 goals for the Hornets in 94 appearances. That isn’t a great return for a striker but it’s important to note he was never first choice at Vicarage Road, almost always playing second fiddle to Hornets skipper Troy Deeney.

Out of his 94 appearances for Watford, he started only 42 games. Gray has flaws in front of goal but is still a great option thanks to the amount of work he does off the ball.

However, some West Brom fans aren’t fully convinced. Many feel they need a prolific goalscorer, something the Watford man has yet to prove in the Premier League.
