Jen Hatmaker has revealed that she and husband Brandon are getting a divorce. She addressed the split on Instagram.

The author and former reality star took to her online profiles to address her split from husband Brandon Hatmaker.

Who is Jen Hatmaker?

Jen is an author, blogger and Christian influencer.

Over the years of her career as a media personality, Jen has gained over 770k followers on Facebook, while 523k people follow her on Instagram.

Jen is the author of a number of books, including the New York Times bestseller ‘For the Love’.

She might be familiar to viewers at home from the HGTV series Your Big Family Renovation in which she appeared with Brandon and their five children.

The Hatmakers are founders of Austin New Church in Austin, Texas.

Jen files for divorce

Jen and Brandon are separating after being married for 27 years. The two married back in 1993.

Jen filed for divorce back in August this year, however, the filing doesn’t include the reason, according to The Roys Report.

Taking to her social media channels, Jen confirmed that she and Brandon are getting a divorce, sharing a picture with the caption “Pray for us”.

In a statement, she said:

“I don’t know how to say this, and I still cannot believe I am even saying it, but Brandon and I are getting divorced. Although the details are ours alone, this was completely unexpected, and I remain stunned as we speak. I am shocked, grief-stricken, and broken-hearted.”

Asking her followers to be kind during this challenging time, Jen continued:

“I beg you to spare us your cruelty. We have suffered so greatly. (Hateful comments that harm our family will be deleted.) The kids and I are getting away to retreat for awhile, and I ask for your kindness…and for some room to breathe. Please respect the privacy of our children and our extended family.”

Fans and friends of Jen have said that they are devastated and heartbroken about the news.

Many have taken to the comment section of Jen’s Instagram post to share messages full of love and support.

Bob Goff, a lawyer and best-selling author, wrote: “Sending boatloads of love your way during this painful time.”

Lady A’s band member and co-lead singer Hillary Scott said: “Jen, I am so sorry and Lord be near, and please hold this beautiful family close.”
