The first season of P-Valley may have only just concluded, but fans are already wondering if and when the hit series will return to Starz for season 2.

There are very few brand-new television shows that can experience the same universal acclaim as P-Valley.

Not only has the show broken network records and has a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but also a superb 85 / 100 score on Metacritic.

Season 1 of the hit series may have only just concluded on Starz, but fans are already curious as to when they can expect a second season to premiere.

Has P-Valley been renewed or cancelled?

  • It’s good news for fans of P-Valley, the series has been renewed by Starz for a second season.

The news that P-Valley would be making a return was announced just two weeks after the season 1 premiere, which shows just how confident Starz is in the production.

Although, if we are honest, none of us are too surprised that the show has been renewed. Not only has P-Valley had extremely positive reviews from critics but it’s been a big draw for the Starz audience, holding the Starz record for most watched premiere.

President of original programming at Starz, Christine Davis, said: “P-Valley has quickly become this summer’s newest must-see television series as critics and audiences alike are taken up by the authentic and compelling characters that make The Pynk come alive.”

“Katori has delivered a provocative drama that looks beyond the glitz and into the hearts and minds of these fully realized and compelling characters, exploring them through a female gaze that invites the audience to take a walk in their stilettos. We know Katori has a lot of incredible stories to tell and a lot in store for these women in a second season.” – Christina Davis, via Deadline.

P-Valley season 2 release date…

  • At the time of writing, an official release date for season 2 has not been confirmed, but we predict a July 2021 premiere.

Season 1 was ordered in November 2018, filming started in mid-2019 and the first episode premiered July 2020 – indicating a roughly 12-month production cycle. Season 2 is slated to have 10 episodes, two more than season 1, which means if the show follows a similar schedule, we could see P-Valley return as soon as next summer.

However, this will all depend on the writing and filming schedules, i.e. how quickly can a script as incredible as season 1 be put together and when can production start. Unfortunately, the ongoing public health crisis still poses challenges for television projects across the country, so there is a chance that production could be delayed by a few months.

Hopefully, we will get more information on the second season of P-Valley within the next few weeks, so keep checking back in for updates.
