Jujutsu Kaisen may become the most-anticipated anime of 2020, but when is the release date for viewers on Netflix and Crunchyroll?

Jujutsu Kaisen was one of the most popular manga series to never get an anime adaptation but thankfully, that’s all changing.

A new series is being developed by MAPPA studio, the popular Japanese animation studio responsible for Inuyashiki (2017), Zombie Land Saga (2018), Dorohedoro (2020) and the upcoming Attack on Titan season 4.

Here is everything you need to know about when the Jujutsu Kaisen anime will release on Netflix, Crunchyroll and what to expect.

Jujutsu Kaisen anime release date

  • The Jujutsu Kaisen anime will premiere on Friday, October 2 on both Netflix Japan and Crunchyroll for international audiences.

October is definitely shaping up to be a massive month for anime fans. In just the first week, we have Jujutsu Kaisen, Noblesse and Burn the Witch premiering, followed by Attack on Titan season 4 later in the month.

It’s a shame that the anime won’t also be coming to US or UK Netflix, but I’m pretty sure it will eventually be released on the streaming platform – especially when they see how popular the series is.

UPDATE: Shonen Salto has just revealed that season 1 of Jujutsu Kaisen will be a 2cour series, likely between 20-25 episodes split several months apart – great news for everyone worried about pacing.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Second trailer released

The second official trailer for the upcoming anime has just been released and it is arguably even better than the first one. You can check it out below.

Jujutsu Kaisen anime storyline

  • Jujutsu Kaisen is about a young man who becomes the host to a powerful curse and must battle hoardes of evil creatures to stop an evil sorcerer.

The first trailer is packed with original characters and the central fight scene is the first major battle of the manga. The anime should, therefore, follow that of the manga series – logically, it makes sense considering how epic the manga’s plot is.

Many eagle-eyed fans of the original manga can probably spot more references within the trailer itself.

However, with the sheer volume of new fans that are going to come from this trailer, perhaps its best to let that side of the fandom develop without major spoilers.

Character designs…

The official Twitter account for Jujutsu has just released the character designs for each of our four leads: Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, Nobara Kugisaki and Satoru Gojo.

It seems like the animators are sticking to the original designs from the manga, but either way, it is definitely a great way to get fans hyped up!

How the internet reacted to the trailer…

  • It’s safe to say that fans of the original manga series are very excited to see Jujutsu Kaisen get its very own anime.

The most obvious reaction from fans is excitement. With an unbelievable storyline, deep character development and epic fight sequences, the enthusiasm for the Jujutsu Kaisen anime is well deserved.
