It’s been over two years since Death March to The Parallel World Rhapsody concluded, but fans are still hopeful that a surprise release date for season 2 could be announced.

This is the case for Death March to The Parallel World Rhapsody, which has been sitting on the shelf for over two years – despite an ongoing, highly read manga and light novel series.
So, has the anime been officially cancelled and if not, when can we expect a season 2 release date to be revealed?

Has Death March been cancelled or renewed?

This continued lack of news or information may be disheartening for fans of the series, but there still remains hope that the anime could one day return for a second season.
Not only was season 1 a massive global success, both in terms of viewership and critic reviews, and ended on a cliff hanger that suggested a second season was on the cards.
What’s more, the original manga series that the anime is based on is still ongoing: with the 10th volume being released back in May. Even the light novel series of Death March is still being produced and is currently on its 20th volume.
To many of us, this all indicated that it was only a matter of time before Death March was renewed for a second season, but we still don’t have any official confirmation from Silver Link studios.

- At the time of writing, an official release date for Death March to The Parallel World Rhapsody season 2 has not been confirmed, but a summer 2021 premiere is the most likely window.
If the series does get renewed for a second season, fans could expect it to debut in summer 2021, but this all depends on how keen Silver Link is to produce the anime once again.
Silver Link, who absorbed fellow Death March studio ‘Connect’ earlier this year, look to have a very busy 12 months ahead of them: with at least five confirmed original series.
If Silver Link is looking to continue producing Death March, they will likely prioritise these other confirmed series, so summer 2021 is the most likely release window for season 2 – but again, this all depends on renewal.
