An American teenager in whom Tottenham Hotspur are said to have expressed an interest has signed for Leicester City, according to ESPN.

The Daily Mail claimed earlier this year that Zach Booth, then of Real Salt Lake, was attracting attention from ‘a number of English clubs’, including Tottenham.

The newspaper also stated that Spurs had made an enquiry about Booth’s older brother, Taylor, who remains a Bayern Munich player.

But ESPN reports that once Leicester expressed their interest the younger player was ‘impressed with what he saw’.

The broadcaster adds that Booth caught the eye while playing for the United States’ Under-17s at a tournament in England and has been spending time with Leicester’s U18 and U23 sides.

Whether Tottenham will pursue their interest in Taylor Booth remains to be seen.

The USA U19 international made a positive impression on Jose Mourinho’s staff while playing against Tottenham for Bayern in the UEFA Youth League last season, according to The Daily Mail

Booth is said to have set up two of Bayern’s three goals, without reply, with ‘pinpoint set pieces’ and ‘came close to adding to his side’s tally as they dominated the midfield’.
