Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 Remastered is an exciting game for fans of the original series, so it’s not surprising that players are eager to know the details of the remake’s multiplayer mode.

While the original versions of the first two Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater were primarily designed as single-player experiences, two players could play together in split-screen mode in a variety of different challenges.

In the years since, split-screen multiplayer has fallen out of fashion in gaming, leading fans to wonder whether these challenges will return in the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater remaster.

Does Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Remastered have multiplayer?

As a great piece of news for fans of the original game, developer Vicarious Visions has confirmed that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 Remastered will indeed have both online and local multiplayer.

In fact, the game will feature a recreation of the same split-screen modes present in the original titles. According to Vicarious Visions’ COO Simon Ebejer:

“We recognise that having local splitscreen is an imperative for this game. It was so much fun back in the day, right? And it still is. I think that a lot of players are gonna still wanna sit on their sofa next to their friends and try to best each other. We’re absolutely supporting that along with online multiplayer.”

What’s new for Pro Skater’s online modes?

According to Ebejer, Pro Skater Remastered will feature some new online multiplayer options. For example, players will be able to create their own levels and then share them online for other players to try out.

This was possible for in the days of the original game, but it involved getting a friend to come to your house. The added connectivity of the internet will likely serve to make the game’s level editor even more enjoyable.

There will no doubt be plenty more fun features to be found in Pro Skater Remastered’s local and online multiplayer once fans get their hands on it.
