Timothy Castagne is set to sign a five-year contract with Leicester City after a fee of £21.5 million was agreed with Atalanta, according to Het Laaste Nieuws.

It didn’t take long to find Ben Chilwell’s replacement.

Less than a week after the England international was unveiled by Chelsea, The Foxes are on the verge of a big-money signing of their own – even if Castagne is more comfortable on the right than he is on the left-hand side of the defence.

Reports in Belgium claim that the Atalanta flyer is set to become one of the top ten biggest signings in Leicester’s history.

A £21.5 million deal is agreed, with Castagne expected to put pen to paper on a contract which will keep him at the King Power Stadium until the summer of 2025.

The 24-year-old Belgium international is a right-back by trade but, fortunately, he is equally comfortable on the left.

Given that Ricardo Pereira and James Justin are already at Brendan Rodgers’ disposal, all the signs suggest that Leicester are planning to mould Castagne into a full-time left-back.

The former Genk youngster impressed as an exhilarating Atalanta side reached the Champions League quarter-finals and finished third in Serie A last season.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Brendan Rodgers has tried to sign Castagne, launching a £5 million bid when he was manager of Celtic back in the winter of 2018 (Sun).
