Tottenham Hotspur right-back Serge Aurier has turned down a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to The Daily Star.

It has been reported that Tottenham value Aurier at £20 million and wanted him to join Wolves as part of a deal to sign Matt Doherty.

However, the Ivory Coast international rejected a move to Wolves, with Doherty joining Spurs nevertheless, according to the report.

The Daily Star has further claimed that the 27-year-old right-back wants a move back to mainland Europe, with AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen interested in securing his services.

Tough for Serge Aurier

Doherty is a very good and established right-back who will be looking to make an immediate impact at Tottenham.

The Republic of Ireland international will be expected to start at right-back next season, which means that it is going to be tough for Aurier.

The former Paris Saint-Germain right-back has made mistakes from time to time in recent years, and the 27-year-old will now have to compete with Doherty for a place in the starting lineup.

Spurs will be looking to finish in the top four of the Premier League table next season.
