Arsenal are reportedly open to selling a number of their players before the end of this transfer window. The Gunners will need to raise funds in order to pursue their own targets and some of their stars could fetch them a lot of money.
Matteo Guendouzi is arguably Arsenal’s most valuable transfer-listed player at the moment but Lucas Torreira is another one who is attracting interest, and he is worth a fair chunk of money.
The former Sampdoria man was an instant hit with Gunners fans when he first arrived. His style of play was something that Arsenal had lacked for a long time but he quickly dropped down the pecking order, for no fault of his own.
Unai Emery tried to use Torreira in a box-to-box role, which the Uruguayan can play, but the lack of another player like him in Arsenal’s number six role really cost them.
Mikel Arteta has mostly gone with just two central midfielders. Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos have been his preferred duo and if the Arsenal boss gets his wish and lands Thomas Partey this summer, the need for Torreira will further go down.
There has been a lot of interest in Torreira ever since he joined the club, especially from Italy where he initially made his name before securing a big-money move from Sampdoria to Emery’s Arsenal.
Firenze Viola claimed on Sunday that Serie A side Fiorentina are very interested in signing the Uruguayan midfielder this summer, and they have started talks with the Gunners over a potential move.

The report reveals that the Italians initially offered £7.1 million loan fee with an option to buy him for a further £16.1 million next summer, taking the total fee to about £23 million.
That falls short of Arsenal’s valuation of Torreira who reportedly hit Fiorentina back with a £27 million, ‘take it or leave it’ demand.
The Viola are expected to return with an improved offer which would take the whole fee closer to what Arsenal are demanding. However, it is yet to be seen if the Gunners will accept a loan offer for Torreira, especially at a time when they are in need of immediate cash.
