Celtic are battling clubs from the Bundesliga and from La Liga for the signature of exciting Ajax forward Noa Lang, according to Goal.

When the Dutch football season was curtailed in March, the highly-rated Dutch U21 international had more reasons than most to feel aggrieved.

After all, 2019/20 was proving to be a breakthrough year for the latest fresh-faced talent to emerge from one of the most feted academy systems in European football.

21-year-old Lang burst on to the scene with a stunning hat-trick on his Eredivisie debut against FC Twente in December, before joining the Enschede outfit on loan a month later.

But, with his contract expiring in 2021, Ajax may have no choice but to listen to offers with Celtic, Real Sociedad and a big-spending Hertha Berlin outfit all expressing their admiration for a left winger who is equally comfortable on the right or through the middle.

“He showed (his talent) today and I am very happy with that,” said Ajax coach Erik Ten Hag after that most unexpected of trebles nine months ago, speaking to AD.

“We really needed that at this stage. We are having problems n Noa’s place – David Neres and Zakaria Labyad are injured. Noa shows (his ability) it during training and during the reserve matches.

“And today he has also clearly shown it at the highest level too.”

Celtic are not exactly lacking in talented left wingers, however, with youngster Mikey Johnston and Southampton loanee Moi Elyounoussi already fighting for a place in Neil Lennon’s starting XI.
