Reported Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City target Rayan Ait Nouri is set to leave Angers this summer, coach Stephan Moulin tells RMC’s Top of the Foot podcast.

Didier Deschamps really is spoiled for choice at left-back.

The fact that Ferland Mendy and Layvin Kurzawa were left out of the France squad ahead of next months Nations League fixtures speaks volumes, with the World Cup-winning manager instead putting his faith in Benjamin Mendy and Lucas Digne.

At the age of just 19, international honours are out of Ait-Nouri’s reach for now. But it feels like only a matter of time before the France U21 star is fighting Digne and co for a place in Deschamps’ starting XI.

The talented teen has comfortably outgrown the relatively small pond that is Angers, with FootMercato suggesting in July that Ait-Nouri could replace Ben Chilwell at Leicester.

Manchester City, Manchester United and Wolves are also interested (Le10 Sport).

“Today I think Rayan is going to leave,” says Moulin, the coach who led Angers to an eleventh place finish in 2019/20, before suggesting that Barcelona could be his destination.

“Barca is credible. He is a player who will have a great career. He is a boy who is a little out of the ordinary. He’s a talented player.

“If he continues his progression, he will play at a very big club very soon because he is talented. I would advise him to go to an intermediate club between Angers and Barça. Why? So he can play.

“Going to Barca is good but, if it is to be Jordi Alba’s understudy, that’s not what he needs. Rayan needs to play, to continue his progress.”

With Chilwell set to become Chelsea’s latest big-money signing, Leicester could be the perfect club at the perfect time for the £31 million-rated Ait Nouri.

But Premier League rivals Wolves have an ace up their sleeve.

Ait-Nouri’s agent, by the way, is none other than Jorge Mendes.
