According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic will clinch the signing of Motherwell playmaker David Turnbull this week.
It’s claimed that Newcastle United and a host of Championship clubs want to sign Turnbull, but he prefers Celtic.
The Bhoys are ready to make their move this week, and seemingly expect to get a deal done within a matter of days.
Celtic have scouted Turnbull twice this season as Nick Hammond and Gavin Strachan have watched him in action, and a £3million deal is close.
Celtic had agreed to sign Turnbull for a similar fee last summer, but a knee problem found in his medical caused the deal to collapse.
Turnbull missed most of the 2019-20 campaign as a result, but has remained on Celtic’s radar ahead of a delayed move to Parkhead.
Turnbull, 21, hit 16 goals and seven assists for Motherwell in the 2018-19 season, proving himself as one of Scottish football’s biggest talents.
With Celtic expecting to lose Tom Rogic this summer, Turnbull would be his replacement – and beating Newcastle to his signature will make Celtic even happier.
