Quincy Promes has admitted that he is ‘amazed’ by the speculation regarding a move to Arsenal, but insists that it simply will not happen.
The Sun reported earlier in August that the Gunners were weighing up a £25 million move for the Ajax winger.
But there’s been little to no follow-up rumours about the 28-year-old heading to North London.
Promes only joined Ajax from Sevilla last summer and despite being shocked at the Arsenal link, the Netherlands winger, who has 42 caps for his country, insists that he’s more than happy in the Dutch capital for now.
Promes told NOS: “That’s a rumor, I can’t go into it. I am amazed at the interest. I have just been here a year. Everyone knows that I am happy here, I am not eager to leave.”
This one is particularly interesting for Arsenal because they aren’t being linked to many wingers, especially with Willian now signed.
There’s a lot of speculation about centre-backs like Gabriel Magalhaes, and midfielders like Houssem Aouar and Thomas Partey, but not a great deal has been written about the Emirates Stadium outfit signing wide players.
And that’s probably because they don’t strictly need them, with Bukayo Saka having a stunning breakthrough season last term, and Nicolas Pepe hopefully developing into a much better player from here on in following a decent first year in England.
