Aston Villa will make a bid for Brentford star Ollie Watkins, according to The Daily Mail.

It has been reported that Villa will make an offer of £18 million for Watkins – who can operate as a forward or as an attacking midfielder – in the coming days.

However, according to the report, the Bees value the English forward at £25 million, although the player himself is keen on working with Villa manager Dean Smith, having played under him at Griffin Park.

According to WhoScored, Watkins made 49 appearances in the Championship for Brentford last season, scoring 26 goals and providing three assists in the process.

During the 2018-19 campaign, the attacker made 35 starts and six substitute appearances in the league for the Bees, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists in the process, according to WhoScored.

Good signing for Aston Villa?

Watkins is a very good player and was described as “a clinical finisher” by former Villa striker Kevin Phillips on Quest (9pm, February 8, 2020) (click here to read more).

The Villans need to sign a new striker to solve their goalscoring problems, and a move for Watkins does make sense given his quality and achievements in the Championship.
