Celtic linked striker Lukas Nmecha has completed his loan move from Anderlecht – ironically enough, to replace Kemar Roofe at the Belgian giants.

Considering the identify of Anderlecht’s new manager, a certain Vincent Kompany, a move to the Jupiler League always felt like a very real possibility for a striker who has spent the last 13 years rising through the ranks at Manchester City.

The Mail reported earlier this month that a Celtic side who have borrowed Jason Denayer, John Guidetti, Patrick Roberts and Daniel Arzani in the recent past were hoping for another favour from the Premier League giants.

But, in a class case of ‘I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine’, Nmecha will now be tasked will replacing Roofe under a City legend at Anderlecht.

“With Lukas arriving, we have the extra option in front we were looking for. The competition between strikers is exactly what we need for them to push themselves to the maximum. It’s our and Lukas’ turn to transform his big potential into goals and assists”, says sporting director Peter Verbeke tells the RSCA website.

In truth, Celtic probably have all the strikers they need right now as Neil Lennon’s side look to scribe their name into the history books with a tenth successive Scottish Premiership title.

The exceptional Odsonne Edouard followed his opening day hat-trick against Hamilton with a stunning individual effort that compatriot Thierry Henry would have been proud of during the 6-0 thrashing of Reykjavic this week.

Lennon remains a big fan of Leigh Griffiths too, with the wily forward central to the Celtic manager’s plans for a new-look 3-5-2 system.

And while oanee Albian Ajeti has a point to prove after flopping at West Ham, the Glasgow giants will be confident that he, like Moi Elyounoussi, can rediscover his stunning Basel form in the colours of Celtic.
