Jose Fonte has claimed that Gabriel is in the ‘process’ of moving and will be heading to the Premier League amid interest from the likes of Arsenal, as he told talkSPORT.

The Times have reported that Gabriel has agreed on a five-year contract with Arsenal and now it’s a case of the North London club getting the funds for his signature.

Fonte, who has played for Southampton and West Ham in the Premier League before, is teammates with Gabriel and his captain in France.

He shared how Gabriel has been asking about what it’s like in England’s top-flight, as Arsenal fans will love his comments.

“I think it’s quite public, to be honest,” Fonte told talkSPORT. “The club have allowed him to speak with other clubs and he is in the process of moving, to be quite honest. It’s just about him choosing which club, which is a great position to be in.

“He just needs to choose where he wants to go, so that’s fantastic and they are all good clubs. I’m happy for him. He’s a great player.

“We need to understand that it’s every boy’s dream to play in the Premier League and he has been asking questions about the Premier League and he’s been asking questions about clubs in the Premier League. I try to give the best and honest opinion. Hopefully, he’ll make his decision and be very successful with it. I have no doubt about it.”

It would be a real coup for Mikel Arteta if he can secure Gabriel’s signature because it will show signs of intent from those above.

Arteta has done his job in regards to showing the Arsenal fans that he is good enough to be their manager when he helped them win the FA Cup.

It was just a case of those in the boardroom backing him in the transfer market and it seems Arsenal fans, as well as Arteta, may well get their wish.
