Juventus are determined to sign Roma’s long-serving right-back Alessandro Florenzi and will offer both Daniele Rugani and Cristian Romero in exchange for the Leeds United target, according to Il Romanista.

While this Rome-born veteran has fallen out of favour under head coach Paulo Fonseca, spending the second half of last season on loan at Valencia, one of the Stadio Olimpico’s most experienced gladiators still has plenty of admirers in Italian football.

Florenzi is not only one of the most effective full-backs in Serie A, he is also an absolute dream of a teammate.

And few men epitomise the spirit of Rome like Florenzi.

The 29-year-old obviously left a lasting impression on Andrea Pirlo too.

Because the pristine playmaker-turned-Juventus boss appears to have made signing his former Italy international team-mate one of his first acts in management.

Il Romanista claim that Juve will even offer the Rugani and Romero in a deal that will see the £50,000-a-week Florenzi move in the other direction.

So if Leeds felt that they had a mountain to climb luring their £13 million target to Elland Road, well, it just turns out that mountain is Everest itself.

Gianluca di Marzio claims that Carlo Ancelotti would also jump at the chance to work with his fellow Italian at Goodison Park, with Everton under pressure to replace the departed Djibril Sidibe before the new Premier League season kicks off.

The Whites and the Toffees do have something to hang their hat on though.

Florenzi is as Roman as they come. After spending the last 18 years at his boyhood, hometown club, will he really leave for one of Roma’s biggest and most historic rivals?
