A player in whom Leeds United, Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace are interested is set to hold contract talks with his club, according to The Daily Mail.
The newspaper claims Leeds, Villa, Newcastle and Palace all want the Chelsea midfielder, Conor Gallagher.
Gallagher starred on loan to Championship sides Charlton and Swansea last season, scoring or making 14 goals, according to WhoScored.
Chelsea, though, have a number of high-quality options in the 20-year-old’s position and a breakthrough at Stamford Bridge next season could be difficult.
But Gallagher could still have a long-term role, with The Daily Mail stating that Chelsea are looking to extend his existing deal beyond its June 2022 expiry date.
And it adds the Blues are ‘also understood to be leaning towards sending him out on another loan rather than selling at this stage’.
Whether or not that will derail any plans by Leeds, Aston Villa, Newcastle or Crystal Palace remains to be seen, with Premier League clubs only allowed to loan two players per season from English top-flight rivals.
But a permanent deal might not be out of the question if Gallagher cannot agree terms with Chelsea, whose academy he progressed through.
The Sun reported last month that Palace are ready to offer £10 million for the England Under-21 international, a figure considerably higher than the compensation pay-out to which Chelsea would be entitled if he left at the end of his contract.
