According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti wants to raid his former club Roma for Alessandro Florenzi.
It’s claimed that Atalanta want to sign Florenzi too, with a real battle on the cards for Everton if they make a move for him.
Florenzi is back at Roma following a loan spell at Valencia, but seems to have no future with his hometown club.
The 29-year-old was born in Rome and came up through the club’s ranks, but could become the latest Romanisti to leave the club after Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi in recent times.
An Italian international, Florenzi has now made almost 300 appearances for Roma, and Ancelotti – a former Roma favourite himself – will be very familiar with his compatriot.
Primarily a right back, Florenzi can also play in midfield, and that may well be why Everton are so interested in signing him.

Everton need options in central midfield, and having seen Djibril Sidibe’s loan spell come to an end, Florenzi could offer depth in both areas of the pitch.
With little future at Roma and his 30th birthday coming up in March 2021, Florenzi shouldn’t cost a huge fee this summer – but ambitious Atalanta will be the main problem for Everton.
