According to the Scottish Daily Mail (16/08, back page), Leeds United are battling Celtic for the signing of Brighton and Hove Albion defender Shane Duffy.
It’s stated that Leeds want Duffy having failed to convince Brighton to sell Ben White, with Marcelo Bielsa and co still looking to raid the Seagulls.
West Ham United, Burnley and West Bromwich Albion are also keen on Duffy, but he actually wants a move to Celtic instead.
Neil Lennon has made a personal call to Duffy, and having grown up supporting Celtic, he is now looking to make the move to Parkhead, with his representatives communicating that choice to Brighton.
However, Celtic can only offer a loan deal, with the interested Premier League sides able to offer £12million permanent deals.
That means Duffy is now at odds with Brighton, as a move to his boyhood club could slip through his fingers if the Seagulls prefer a permanent move.

Celtic aren’t really in a position to splash £12million on Duffy, as that would shatter their transfer record – something fans may not be keen on given that Duffy is now 28.
Leeds are now the latest threat to Celtic’s hopes of signing Duffy, but they may be left waiting to see whether a dream move to Celtic falls through before getting their hopes up.
