Marcus Maddison has confirmed that he has had no contact from Sunderland, despite being a free agent, on Instagram.
Maddison is currently on the look out for a new club, and has been strongly linked with a move to Sunderland for a number of seasons now.
The Chronicle reported how the Black Cats were put off by Peterborough United’s asking price for Maddison in November last year.
But even with the winger now available on a free transfer, the Black Cats don’t currently seem interested.
Maddison has been turning out for non-league side Peterborough Sports recently to maintain his fitness, and his insistence that no clubs have been in contact comes as a surprise.
Maddison has been a huge threat in League One over a number of years, and was Posh’s key player for much of his time at the club.
If Sunderland were to come in for Maddison he would likely jump at the opportunity to move to the Stadium of Light, as he has roots back in the North East.
